Dulova in Los Angeles |
| Summary: |
Vera Dulova the Russian harpist was the first international soloist to give a recital at the AHS National Conference. It was difficult to get government permission for her visit, and the KGB checked up on her while she stayed at the UCLA campus. Priscilla and Michael translated for Dulova, and she seemed to enjoy her visit. She brought a bag of cash to buy harps and strings with and spent it all, rather than give it back to the government. Her recital on June 23, 1966 included works by Benda, Tailleferre, Glinka, Prokofiev, Katchaturian, and Salzedo.
