Artiss de Volt Zacharias (March 5, 1907- August 28, 2000) was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and moved to Boston as a child with her mother and sister. She graduated from the New England Conservatory. She studied harp with Alfred Holy, was the leading proponent of his teaching methods, and published the Alfred Holy Memoirs (Lyra Music Company) in 1985. She taught at the Mozartum Academy in Salzburg, Austria, the New England Conservatory, the College of Music of Boston University, and Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida. She performed throughout the US as a soloist and with her violinist sister, Charlotte. She moved to Sea Island, Georgia, in 1952, developed a harp community in the region, and was honored by the state of Georgia in 2000.
