Title: A New Approach to an Old Problem: Bela Bartok's Violin Concerto
Summary: Beatrice Rose and Peter Bartok, son of Bela Bartok, collaborated to create a playable and audible harp part of measures 284-287 of the Bartok Violin Concerto. Eventually Peter Bartok eliminated notes from the harp part and gave them to two pizzicato violas in order to solve the pedaling problems in harp part while maintaining the harmonies. The first performance of this revised part was in the spring of 2000 at the University of Houston Moores School of Music, Palina Arnadottir, violin, Franz Krager, conductor, Leah Jorgensen, harp.
