Summary: Catherine Gotthoffer studied the harp with Grandjany at Juilliard where she also assisted him with his work. She was present at Grandjany's recording session and chose the final "takes" for the album, most of which has now become the CD Music for the Harp. She played jazz at many clubs in New York City and was the original harpist for the Dallas Symphony. Beginning in 1952 she recorded on the soundtracks of more than 2000 movies for MGM. She was the harp instructor for the California Institute of the Arts when it was founded in 1970. She was involved in the American Harp Society from its beginning, founded the Los Angeles chapter, and was elected president of the national organization in 1968 and 1972.
