Title: Traveling with the New York Harp Ensemble
Summary: The New York Harp Ensemble was founded in 1970 by Aristid Von Wurtzler and played thousands of concerts in fifty-three countries around the world. Barbara Von Wurtzler, who was the only harpist to play with the ensemble throughout its history, relates many stories about the difficulties of their travels. They endured customs problems, drunk drivers, revolutions, harps being left off planes, driving across Canada in winter, car breakdowns, and staying in a convent. Aristid Von Wurtzler wrote all of their harp arrangements and made all of their travel plans, so the group went into hiatus with his death in 1997.
