| Summary: | Laura Newell, born in 1900, was a student of Kajetan Attl, and performed with the NBC Symphony Orchestra. She was also a member of a swing ensemble, the New Friends of Rhythm. Many of their arrangements were done by Alan Shulman, one of two Shulman brothers in the group. They continued working together until her retirement in the early 1970s. The article includes a discography. |
