| Summary: | Elyse Ilku began formal studies with Mary Green at Iowa State Teacher's College. She later studied with Carlos Salzedo at Camden and at Curtis. She performed with the Angelaires, and then with the New Orleans Symphony. She was with the Halifax Symphony for a time and then spent the bulk of her career with the Detroit Symphony. In spite of suffering from viral encephalitis meningitis she continued to perform with the Detroit Symphony until her retirement in 1988. She continues to play with the Arkansas Symphony. |
